Ladbrokes have posted odd of 19/1 that the four CONCACAF representatives at the FIFA World Cup 2014 are going to all bottom out in the first stage. Four teams from the CONCACAF qualified for Brazil, the USA, Costa Rica, Honduras and Mexico and frankly, it looks a tough task for any of them to make it through to the knockout stage.

The USA and Costa Rica were both handed terrible draws. Jurgen Klinsmann’s America has to face up to Germany, Portugal and Ghana in Group G, while Costa Rica are of course in England’s Group of Death along with Italy and Uruguay too.

Ladbrokes are offering odds of 19/1 that the USA, Costa Rica, Mexico and Honduras will all finish bottom of their groups.

This is a bet which may have some legs for one of the weakest federations around. The USA will come under heavy pressure from Germany and Portugal of course, and Ghana are going to be no pushovers for them either. The USA are even money favourites at Ladbrokes to finish bottom of their group, and Costa rica are odds of 1/7 to finish bottom of Group D.

Honduras, who face France, Switzerland and Ecuador in Group E have made it to two World Cups before and have finished bottom of their group on both occasions, includingat South Africa for years ago. So there is a big chance that they will flounder as well.

So that leaves Mexico, who finished fourth in the CONCACAF qualifiers, thanks to a terrible defence, quite frankly. El Tri have qualified out of the group stage in each of their last five World Cup appearances. But Miguel Herrera’s side isn’t a well oiled machine at the moment, far from it with all the managerial changes that have happened there.

Herrera is their fourth manager in a year and he dropped all European based players from his squad as they qualified for Brazil 2014 in a play off against New Zealand. Mexico are 3/1 shots to finish bottom of Group A, with Cameroon saving their blushes as being 4/7 favourites to take the drop. Group A of course also contains Brazil and Croatia.
