World Cup Betting & Odds

There are thirty two teams starting the 2010 FIFA World Cup on June 11th in South Africa, and there can of course, be only one winner out of that lot. So, at the start of the tournament, you will have a one in thirty two chance of picking a winner, but once the group stage has been completed, your odds will be down to a sixteen to one chance. Still, that may be a little bit daunting, although the outright winner is probably going to come from a much smaller potential group than that, with the favourites Brazil, Spain, England and Argentina being clear front runners. There are more options to consider along with just looking at outright bets on a team to lift the trophy on July 11th in Johannesburg, so here we will cast a betting eye over sectional round 2010 FIFA World Cup betting

To Reach Quarter Finals
World Cup Betting at Paddy Power will be a good stop for this one, as they have a full listing of odds for this market. So who are the favourites to reach this stage? Well, for starters, it will be something of a surprise if the seeded teams do not make it this far. If the seeded teams all win their groups (not implausible), then they will avoid each other in the first phase of the knockout rounds. That will produce a strong batch of eight to reach the quarter finals, but of course, the beautiful game often throws up upsets and anything can happen. So this is a market well worth exploring in terms of decent odds. The likes of Spain, England and Brazil are at very short prices, simply because they are regarded as among the strongest teams in the tournament, so you need to look beyond them. France are pretty much the cut for teams who should make the Quarter Finals, but still carry a certain amount of uncertainty. Serbia for example are a good outside bet at 16/5, for if they can sneak top place in their group ahead of Germany, they will play whoever finishes second to England in theirs in the last 16. That could be a relatively safe passage to the Quarter Finals. Portugal and the Ivory Coast are out in the pricing at around 11/5 simply because they are in the Group of Death with Brazil, but represent good value for decent teams.

To Reach Semi Finals

Reaching the final four of the World Cup is something of an achievement in itself. By this stage of the competition, it is usually the cream of the crop in the world who should be left. Again, there are always exceptions to every rule, especially in football betting, so there are some very good World Cup Betting Odds to be explored in the semi final category. Even the favourites Spain and Brazil are sitting at around Evens just to make the Semi Finals at Bwin. Defending champions Italy are back at 11/5 in World Cup Betting at Bwin to make the semi’s, while England boss Fabio Capello will be delighted to see the online bookmakers have his England squad priced around 6/4 to make the semi finals. England still remain one of the strong bets which are attracting a lot of attention ahead of the tournament in South Africa.

To Reach World Cup Finals

European Champions Spain are clear favourites to reach the World Cup Final, as well as win it. They are priced at around 2/1 in World Cup 2010 Betting Odds for South Africa 2010 to reach the finals (about half the odds they are to win it outright). It will be a surprise not to see two of the familiar faces in the final, but which ones you punt for will be down to your personal perceptions on not only the strengths of the teams, but the planned route each team will take through the tournament. This will have a huge influence on World Cup Betting, as you can see if your personal favourites are on a potential collision course with one of the big guns in the latter stages of the tournament.
