A game of high importance then here in the CONCACAF Zone because both of them are in the qualification picture. Peru are holding fourth place going into this which is the final automatic qualification spot with Argentina just behind them level on points. But there is a huge tussle between seven nations for the remaining three automatic qualification spots going on and the form of Argentina hasn’t been great throughout so they are feeling a bit of pressure heading into this one.

Argentina 1/5, Draw 6/1, Peru 11/1

Argentina vs Peru Betting Tips

Argentina have looked pretty dismal through this qualification campaign. They have been an utter bore to watch, which is a terrible thing considering all of the attacking talent they have like Messi, Dybala, Higuain, Di Maria and Aguero. Their lack of goals through a conservative approach to things has left them sweating. Only Bolivia, who had two goals wiped out in a 2-0 win over Peru because of fielding an ineligible player, have scored fewer goals in the COBNOMBEL Zone than Argentina. So Argentina have averaged just one goal exactly per game in qualification and because they aren’t clicking offensively, Argentina to win by a one goal margin at bet365 fetches a price of 3/1. At home they have posted a W4 D2 L2 record, the defeats coming against Paraguay and Ecuador who are beneath them in the table.

Argentina will go on to face Ecuador away in their final qualification match. Lionel Messi is the 2/1 bet365 first goalscorer favourite for this one and considering the goal scoring form that he been in for Barcelona, he is worth a flutter. He is Argentina’s top scorer in the campaign, but with only five goals. Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala are 10/11 options. The Albiceleste need a big game from someone. They do have form against Peru though because, after their 2-2 draw earlier in the campaign, it means that Argentina are now on a twelve match unbeaten streak of form against Peru, a run which started back in 2000. Both teams to score at bet365 for a price of 6/5 may not be a bad bed going into this one because that has cropped up in each of the last five games between these two.

Peru have big incentive to produce a performance in this one to try and keep a hold of their position in the automatic qualification places. They are level on points with Argentina and have the same goal difference, but are above them because of having scored more goals (ten) than Argentina have. So they are carrying a scoring threat and Edison Flores and Paolo Guerrero both have five goals in qualification and are 7/1 and 7/2 respectively in the anytime goalscorer market). However, it all comes with a caveat as they are pretty bad at the back. In total, they have conceded 25 goals in their qualification campaign and only the bottom two of Bolivia and Venezuela have conceded more than that. Peru actually lost a game against Bolivia earlier in the campaign, but they were awarded a 3-0 win afterwards because of Bolivia having field an ineligible player. So that was a big three points gained for them but they still have Argentina and Chile breathing down their neck. They have the goals, but will their defence stand up to the test? In the bet365 correct score market, an Argentina 2-1 result is tempting 17/2 punt.
