Belgium World Cup 2014 Odds dealt a blow as Christian Benteke misses Brazil 2014
Belgium’s World Cup 2014 odds have suffered a massive setback as they have lost the services of Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke. The injury was picked up in a training session with the club and he has to go in for a surgery which will keep out of the big summer spectacle in Brazil. Not only will Belgium be feeling the pinch after losing him, but so will Aston Villa as they round out their Premier League campaign.
The 23 year old was a dead cert to be named in Belgium’s squad for the 2014 World Cup, even though he last stepped out on the pitch for them back in September of 2013. The young striker, who has still managed to bang in 23 goals this season for Villa in all competitions despite a four month goal drought, would have a been a great asset to have around on the bench.
It still doesn’t mean that Belgium are going to massively hindered by his absence, but he is part of the highly promising young set up that the Belgians have under Marc Wilmots. Belgium’s World Cup Odds are at 18/1 with online betting site Betfair as they enter Brazil 2014 in a group alongside Algeria, Russia and South Korea.
Belgium have been trading as one of the top dark horse shots in World Cup 2014 betting, as they have a host of household names in their squad from Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany, to Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas and their star attraction Eden Hazard.
