It is crunch time for these two with a spot at the World Cup next summer at state. Denmark carried some great form down the back stretch for their qualification campaign and that will be a huge warning to the men in green. Ireland had to scrap and work for their spot in their play offs, only getting there with a dramatic win over Wales in their final group stage match. Will they have the goals to see off a positive Denmark side on the night? It’s going to be important to not end up with a first leg deficit and the Irish will likely set out to contain.

Denmark vs Ireland Odds

Denmark 3/4, Draw 13/5, Ireland 19/4

Denmark vs Ireland Betting Tips

Denmark gave a really good account of themselves in the group stage of World Cup qualification from UEFA. They had a sluggish start though, losing two of their first three games which suggests that they weren’t going to be in the running, but they showed tremendous character to turn around their form. They produced an unbeaten W5 D2 record in their remaining seven games in the group and within that sequence, they put up a stunning 4-0 home win over Poland, who won the group with ease. Denmark averaged two goals per game exactly though qualification, boosted by the big 4-0 home win over Poland as well as taking a 4-0 home win over Kazakhstan.

Denmark’s home form in the group stage was W3 D1 L1 the only loss coming early in the campaign against Montenegro. It was good stuff from them and this likely to be a low scoring affair and under 1.5 goals with bet365 has to be value at 13/8. Denmark’s key man is Christian Eriksen who has now scored eight goals in his last eight appearances for his country and the Tottenham man was only bettered in the group by Poland’s goal scoring machine Robert Lewandowski outscored in him the group. Eriksen is a 9/4 anytime goalscorer option. Ireland’s shortest priced option in the anytime goalscorer market for this first leg is Shane Long at 3/1.

From the current head to head, Denmark have failed to win any of their last four against Ireland, losing the last two against them, scoring none and conceding seven. But there are hints that they could snap that form. The last time they were together competitively was in the 1994 World Cup qualifiers, with two draws played out and a 0-0 between them in Copenhagen. In the bet365 correct score market, a 0-0 draw is a 6/1 option with the shortest priced option being an appealing 4/1 on a Denmark 1-0. Denmark are in great form of W4 D2 in their last six and during that sequence played out a friendly draw with Germany.

Ireland though we’re good on the road in their qualification group, for the most part, going undefeated and taking wins in Austria and Wales. They have been one of the more defensive sides in the qualifiers though and they haven’t offered a lot going forward. They are the lowest scoring of the eight nations in the play offs in fact. Ireland have two wins in their last five games only but they have tremendous fight in them when it comes to crunch games, as they showed in their 1-0 victory in Cardiff over Wales. The Irish have lost only three of their last 12 competitive road games. The half time draw at bet365 is a great option here as Ireland were drawing at half time in all but one of their five away games in the qualifiers.

Denmark are the lowest ranked side in the qualifiers, but will Ireland have the goals to beat them? Perhaps not in this one and carried by for the form of Eriksen, Denmark may be able to take this.
