England v Nigeria Betting Preview International Friendly – 2nd June 2018

England start their final World Cup 2018 preparations with a game at Wembley against Nigeria on Saturday. The main thing that England will be looking for is a better showing of goal output, something which has been lacking from them recently. They are on a good streak of unbeaten form, but they will be facing a Nigeria side who are also showing some decent form and who will also be putting in an appearance at the 2018 World Cup in June.

England v Nigeria Betting Tips

England goes into this fixture with an eight-match undefeated streak of behind them and it begins their final warm-ups ahead of the 2018 World Cup. England boss Gareth Southgate will be looking for more output going forward as England have managed just four goals in their last six fixtures. Overall though the Three Lions have been playing more positive stuff though, but they are going to need an end product, especially at Russia 2018. They have only come up with one goal in their last four games but those run of fixtures were against higher quality opponents in the form of Germany, Brazil, Netherlands and Italy. To their credit, England have been very solid at the back having taken six clean sheets in their last eight games. So that is a strength that they will want to certainly not forsake for extra goals.

It all about finding that balance but as it isn’t quite there at the moment under 2.5 goals at bet365 is at 3/4 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:37 p.m. on May 30th, 2018). England last met Nigeria at the 2002 World Cup when they played out a 0-0 draw in the group stage. The one meeting prior to that between the two nations ended in a 1-0 win for England in a 1994 international friendly. An England 1-0 correct score option at bet365 is at 9/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:37 p.m. on May 30th, 2018) may also appeal on the back of a short history between the two and England’s current lack of goals.

Nigeria did very well in their World Cup qualification group, as they were facing what appeared to be a tough challenge. The Super Eagles had to go up against Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia in their final qualification group, but they got themselves off to a strong start and overall produced a W4 D1 L1 record, banking convincing home wins over their challengers. So Nigeria are running with a bit of confidence behind them and it will be interesting to see how they handle themselves in a competitive group against Argentina, Iceland and Croatia at the 2018 World Cup. Nigeria are third favourites to win that Group D. The Super Eagles are carrying a bit of form with only one loss in their last six games the defeat in that sequence of fixtures for them coming against Serbia back in March.

Interestingly enough and a nod towards the kind of threat that Nigeria could be at the 2018 World Cup, and to England in this friendly, is that before that lost against Serbia they had taken excellent back-to-back wins over Argentina and Poland. Backing the Super Eagles to get on the scoresheet at Wembley on Saturday can be done with a both teams to score bet which is trading at 6/5 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds taken at 4:37 p.m. on May 30th, 2018). They look to have enough about them to produce a tricky test for the Three Lions.

England v Nigeria Predictions

This may well end up being a close game but with England at home, you would expect the three Lions to find a way to get a win on the board. Just because they haven’t been prolific in front of goal through their recent fixtures, they may be worth backing the home side to get the victory by just one goal margin.
