World Cup Qualification Previews & Predictions

England are the heavy odds-on favourite to take a win on Sunday in World Cup 2018 qualification. After having beaten both Scotland and Malta at Wembley in their qualification campaign, they are expected to see off the challenge of Lithuania on the weekend and potentially extend their lead at the top of Group F. England put on a good show against Germany in Dortmund in a friendly during the week, will they be able to put on a good, entertaining performance for the home fans against Lithuania on their way to collecting three points?

This should be a routine affair for England, who are unbeaten in their last 33 qualifiers for major international tournaments, winning twenty-five of those. England have kept a clean sheet in each of their four World Cup 2018 qualifiers so far and they are a good price of 1/2 to win to nil on Sunday with bookmaker Ladbrokes. The output from England going forward hasn’t been quite as high as one would have hoped with only six goals in four qualifying games, but five of those have come from their two home fixtures. England hold a two-point cushion at the top of the group and will be looking to at least consolidate that, with the potential of building on it.

England have beaten Scotland 3-0 and Malta 2-0 so are probably going to be comfortable in this one and England 2-0 and England 3-0 correct score options in the game are both up at a price of 9/2 with Ladbrokes. It’s not too likely that the visitors will show up to Wembley and manage to put the England back line under heaps of pressure. A Draw/England half time/full time bet at Ladbrokes is an 11/4 option and that may be value because England have been level at the half time break in each of their four games so far in the group. Jamie Vardy is 5/6 outright favourite in the anytime goalscorer market with Jermain Defoe at 10/11 and Marcus Rashford at even money.

Lithuania would be happy enough with a point gained through a draw from this tough fixture. They are winless in their last six competitive away games (D2 L4) so off the bat, it doesn’t appear that they are capable of pulling off a shock. There have only been the two previous meetings between England and Slovenia and both of those went in England’s favour with 3-0 and 4-0 wins back in Euro 2016 qualifying. Lithuania were hammered 4-0 in Slovakia and they earned a point in a 1-1 draw in Scotland in their other two away games in the group. Other than some early stubborn resistance, it is hard to see what they are going to bring to the table overall in terms of laying down a challenge.

England vs Lithuania Betting Tips

England home win: England are long odds-on favourites to win this game and therefore there isn’t too much value in the match outright on them. So you will have to look elsewhere and an England 2-0 correct score seems to be around the right mark for the game. That’s taking into consideration the resistance that the Three Lions are going to face and a lack of scoring output from them so far in the campaign.
