France lose Franck Ribery ahead of Brazil 2014
France’s Franck Ribery has been ruled out of the 2014 World Cup, after the Bayern Munich man picked up an injury during training. The issue arose for Ribery came on Friday when he hurt his back in a training session. It was a big blow for coach Didier Deschamps as his absence will leave a big hole in coach Didier Deschamps’ plans.
With Clement Grenier also pulling out as well, Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin has received a surprise call up. Also joining the squad is Montpellier man Remy Cabella.
France’s odds of winning the World Cup 2014 haven’t shifted since the loss of Ribery, bookmakers holding them steady as strong 25/1 dark horse shots, the same price as England’s World Cup Group D opponents Italy.
France play in Group E of the World Cup where they are 5/6 shots to win the group ahead of Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras. Their opening group match is on June 15th against Honduras.
