Ukraine, starting away from home, will fancy their chances of getting to South Africa 2010, with a relatively kind draw for them in the play-offs. The Ukraine finished their group well, being the only team to beat England, but often only just about doing enough to get done what they need to. Greece weren’t exactly flattering to deceive though, and only secured second place in their group by the skin of their teeth. This is probably going to be the most evenly contested World Cup Play-Off fixture. The Greeks will look heavily towards Theofanis Gekas who bagged himself a nice ten goals during qualifying. Without being anywhere near spectacular, the Greeks finished just one point behind a quite impressive Switzerland in the Group. Somehow it was all a lot closer that it should ever have been.

The Ukraine of course, finished as runners-up to England, with the famliar sight of Andrei Shevchenko playing for them. The World Cup 2010 would be his swansong, and will be doing all he can to lead his men in that direction. They have a good chance against Greece, but it will likely not be a very open game, and therefore not many goals. What the two teams will look for though, is control in the midfield, and to look for set pieces to send the big men forward. Greece are still managed by Otto Rehhagel, the man who won them Euro 2004 against all of the odds. Tight fixture, and hard to pick a winner from two defensive minded teams.
