Holland v Ghana Betting Tips:
Neither are in particularly hot form at the moment. Holland haven’t picked up a win in any of their last four matches played now, their most recent result being a 1-1 draw against Ecuador. During that sequence of games , there was a 2-0 loss against France and draw against Colombia and Japan. For a side which has to go forth and challenge Spain and Chile for a place in the knockout stages of Brazil 2014, then that’s not the kind of form that they will have been looking for. Can Louis van Gaal get them back to winning ways? They are favourites here and that is because they carry all the firepower.
Robin van Persie is 10/11 in the anytime goalscorer market, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar at 13/10 and Arjen Robben at 13/8. They all look to be pretty good value, although they have failed to score in two of their last three matches. Following their game with Ghana in Rotterdam, they host Wales in Amsterdam before heading to face Spain in their opening World Cup 2014 match on June 13th. Holland have played Ghana twice before, both times on home soil and after a 0-0 draw in the first encounter back in 1998, they took a comfortable 4-1 win when they last met in 2010. Given their lack of prowess in front of goal lately, it may tempt punters to go under 2.5 goals for a price of 4/5.
It is hard to tell what kind of shape the Africans are in. They have had the benefit of playing tournament football this year with the African Cup of Nations. They did make it all the way to the final there, losing out in a penalty shoot out against Libya. The big feature of Ghana’s matches this year is a lack of goals. They didn’t manage more than one in any of their ACON 2014 matches. They went to Podgorica at the betting of March and lost 1-0 against Montenegro. While they play strong, tidy football, there is a lack of punch up top and a factor which should keep this scoreline down.
If Ghana could find that killer instinct up top, they’d be a decent side. However, they are rightly heavy underdogs here against the Netherlands, but with the Dutch not totally firing at the moment, look for this one to go under 2.5 goals.
