Looking forward to a World Cup 2014 group adventure against Switzerland, France and Ecuador, Honduras have been quick out of the gate in naming their squad for Brazil 2014. Head coach Luis Fernando Suarez has announced his 23 man squad and six of the squad are UK based.

Hull defender Maynor Figueroa, Stoke midfielder Wilson Palacios, Wigan duo Roger Espinoza and Juan Carlos Garcia, plus Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre and Rangers midfielder Arnold Peralta have all been selected.

Suarez’s 23-player list also has two newcomers from the local league — goalkeeper Luis Lopez and defender Juan Pablo Montes.

Suarez said: “I ask the ones who have not been called up to understand. A lot of players were part of this process, but only 23 can be called. I cannot keep everybody satisfied.”

Honduras make a trip to the USA soon to play Turkey, Israel and England as their World Cup warm up matches. They will be facing off against England on June 6th in Miami.

Goalkeepers: Noel Valladares, Donis Escober (both Olimpia), Luis Lopez (Real España).

Defenders: Brayan Beckeles (Olimpia), Emilio Izaguirre (Celtic), Juan Carlos Garcia (Wigan), Maynor Figueroa (Hull), Victor Bernardez (San Jose Earthquakes), Osman Chavez (Qingdao Jonoon), Juan Pablo Montes (Motagua).

Midfielders: Arnold Peralta (Rangers), Luis Garrido (Olimpia), Roger Espinoza (Wigan), Jorge Claros (Motagua), Wilson Palacios (Stoke), Oscar Garcia (Houston Dynamo), Andy Najar (Anderlecht), Mario Martinez (Real Espana), Marvin Chavez (Colorado Rapids).

Forwards: Jerry Bengtson (New England Revolution), Jerry Palacios (Alajuelense), Carlo Costly (Real Espana), Rony Martinez (Real Sociedad).
