Here are some more important dates to put in your World Cup diary. Following our publication of the key England dates, May and the early days of June this year, hold some more key dates for all fans of the 2010 FIFA World Cup to be aware of. The passing of these dates, such as the announcement of team squads, could enact a shift in World Cup 2010 Betting odds. Imagine an Argentina without Lionel Messi. Imagine an England without Wayne Rooney. Imagine Portugal without Cristiano Ronaldo. The World Cup is approaching fast, and knowing the squads, knowing the personal available for the teams in the tournament, can have a influence in your betting strategy.

May 11th: All teams participating in the World Cup must get all their homework done, and have their provisional 30 man squad handed in to FIFA headquarters by midnight on this date.

May 13th: FIFA will officially announce all of the provisional squad. The way it goes, that despite all the speculation surrounding which players will get selected, nothing is actually official until the lists are published by FIFA.

May 17th: Any players still on duty at their domestic clubs, must be released by this date, to be fully eligible to represent their nations.

June 1st: This is the big day. Come midnight, all nations must have handed in their official 23 man squad lists. They have until midnight to do so, and only players who are were in the provisional 30 man squads on the May 11th listings are eligible for these final lists. There are of course exceptions, as teams have up until 24 hours before the first of their World Cup fixtures to replace any seriously injured player (all within the guidelines of FIFA regulations).

June 4th: Again, all acts of officialdom will be clear and final, when FIFA publish the final squad lists on June 4th, even though those final squad lists won’t be any surprise to fans or the press alike.
