Ireland v Sweden Betting Preview
Although this is a very tricky looking match for Ireland, there is the incentive of taking a huge advantage over Sweden with a win. Ireland go into the back a point back from second placed Sweden, so the visiting Irish could put themselves a couple of points clear in second place with a win. Defeat could be disastrous though for them, leaving them four points adrift of second place at the half way stage.

Ireland v Sweden Recommended Bet:
Two crucial games coming up for Ireland as they face Sweden and then Austria in the space of a few days. Things are tight in Group C between Sweden and Ireland, with the Swedes holding a one point advantage. The two of them still have to meet back in Dublin in September, so there is even more importance on this game for Ireland. If they can take something out of this match and keep themselves in the hunt for second spot, then perhaps they can use home advantage later to overhaul the Swedes. But a win in Sweden, which would be their first ever, would be immensely timely for them. Taking a two point lead in second place to then face Austria would be a lot different from them taking a four point deficit from second place into the game. So the Irish need to set themselves up well. They have won their two away matches so far in the group, beating the Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan.
This is a different kettle of fish though, a much tougher test for them to endure. Sweden have won their only home match in group C so far, taking a 2-0 win over Kazakhstan. On the road, they narrowly beat the Faroe Islands and took a point off Germany in a thrilling 4-4 draw. Sweden will be eyeing up a big advantage in this one with a win, but this could be a tight match. There may not be too much to chose between the two sides, and Ireland will dig in through the middle of the park. Sweden have the bigger threat up front, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic floating around menacingly, so there could be plenty of long balls played forward by both sides. Whoever gets the foothold of things in the middle will determine this. Sweden have never lost a competitive match against the Irish.
Ireland v Sweden Head To Head
Things are pretty even between the two sides, with Sweden just holding a 4-3 advantage overall, and have scored just two more goals than Ireland have in their previous meetings. Not a long history in competitive matches, but in the four competitive meetings, Sweden have a 3-0 lead, with one draw. The last time they met was in a 2006 friendly in Dublin, with Ireland winning 3-0. Ireland have won the last two meetings with Sweden (both friendly matches).
