Northern Ireland would need a famous night at Windsor Park by beating Germany, to keep their faint hopes of finishing top of Group C alive. That is because they sit in second place five points adrift of Die Mannschaft, so even if they were to win this, it would still need Germany to lose to Azerbaijan in their final game. So the Irish are looking to just collect points to guarantee that they will finish as one of the eight best runners up from the group stage so that they head off to the playoffs. Germany took a comfortable win in Hannover when the two nations met earlier in the group and they are odds-on favourites to win this fixture.

Northern Ireland vs Germany Betting Tips

This is a top two clash in the group, but things will stay the same no matter what the outcome. Northern Ireland are trailing the Germans by five points. The Irish would have to win this and their remaining game while hoping that Germany also lose against Azerbaijan to steal the top spot from them. That’s not likely to happen. So the Irish will likely end up second after a great campaign and it’s probably nice not have anything really riding on this. Northern Ireland have lost only once in the group stage so far, and that was against Germany in Hannover, going down 2-0 after conceding both goals early. That means the Germans just toyed with them really after that. At Windsor Park, the Irish have won all four of their games so far, conceding none and scoring twelve. It’s been good form from them.

It is not exactly likely that Northern Ireland will produce a win to nil in this one to follow their home trend, but under 2.5 goals at bet365 looks pretty good value for the game. Germany can really turn up and cruise in this one, pick up a point and be on their way without really exerting themselves. Kyle Lafferty is Northern Ireland’s shortest priced option in the anytime goalscorer market at a price of 15/4. Germany have the upper hand over Northern Ireland in the current head to head, having won each of their last six games against the Irish and conceding just the one goal in their last five against them. So this is a tough game for the Irish obviously and Germany to win to nil at bet365 is a price of 5/6 and throughout qualification, the Germans averaged over four goals per game.

At the back, both of these have only conceded two goals each in qualification, but Germany have outscored the Irish heavily 35 – 16. There has been a strong theme through Germany’s qualifiers, with them having been leading at both half time and full time in all eight of their qualification matches so far. A Germany/Germany half time/full time bet is a nice price of 4/5, therefore, to see them extend that. Thomas Muller is their top scorer in qualification with five and he is at 11/10 in the anytime goalscorer market with Sandro Wagener at 5/4 and Timo Werner, if he plays, at 8/11. Germany have conceded in two of their four away wins in the group so far, so perhaps backing the Irish to at least get on the scoresheet in a both teams to score bet with bet365 at 5/4 may have some appeal.
