PORTUGAL v BOSNIA

Of course, whenever Portugal play, it is all about one man generally. Cristiano Ronaldo. Well, this time around, Portugal will have to do without their superstar, as an ankle injury is keeping him out of the qualifying play-offs. Portugal did not make life easy for themselves during qualifying, and only reached the runners-up spot, thanks to a poor result for Sweden when they needed something good. That Sweden loss was enough to give Portugal the lifeline they needed. Now they have to square off against Bosnia, who will be looking to reach the World Cup finals for the first time ever. One thing that Bosnia do have in their arsenal, is goals. They can score goals with apparent ease, with Wolfsburg’s Edin Dezko and Muslimovic leading the front line for their country, and Zvejzdan Misimovic pulling the strings from midfield.

With Portugal not looking impressive at any time during qualifying, Bosnia are the ideal team to take them down. Bosnia like to attack and they do it very well, looking good going forward. They finished comfortably second in their group only to the mighty Spain, and now are on the verge of their biggest achievement in their young footballing history. The Bosnians will have little to fear facing up to the Protguese. they won’t be expected to win, but they have a great chance. Portugal as shown, have looked a little sluggish at times, and without Cristiano Ronaldo, it is hard to see where the natural goalscoring threat is going to come from. Bosnia however, will have theirs proudly on display.
