Scotland v Wales Betting Preview
With four matches played each, there has only been one win produced by these two sides in Group A of 2014 World Cup qualifying. That was the Welsh victory on home soil over Scotland. Both have been struggling and look to be well out of contention for booking passage to Brazil 2014. So this match between the bottom two sides in Group A is all about restoring a bit of pride and perhaps getting some momentum going to try and book a decent finish in the group.

Scotland v Wales Recommended Bet:
Hardly a clash between two teams in great form. They occupy the bottom two places in Group A and their hopes of reaching Brazil 2014 have pretty much already been dashed. That is the reality of it, after such poor starts. Scotland in particular were handed two home matches to start off with and blew their advantage for a strong start and momentum, picking up draws against Serbia and Macedonia. That has been their only two points of the campaign so far, after losing in Wales and Belgium. Scotland couldn’t stop Gareth Bale in the first group meeting, the Tottenham star scoring a couple to guide the Welsh past Scotland on that occasion. Scotland’s last match was an international friendly win over Estonia, in what was Gordon Strachan’s first match in charge. Again, Scotland really failed in front of goal, not converting chances. With just two goals scored in four matches in Group A, that lack of strike power may cost them again.

Wales have a world class match winner up their sleeve in Bale and he could be the difference on the day again. Wales have netted only three goals of their own and defensively they have suffered more than the Scots have. Bale has scored all three of the Welsh goals, so may be worth taking a shot on him as First or Anytime Goalscorer. Chris Coleman’s men, who have won just two of their last seven matches, have lost both of their away matches in the group. They lost 2-0 in Croatia and were hammered 6-1 out in Serbia as well. Even if they win, it is highly unlikely that they are going to push on for a qualification place, not with the strength of Belgium and Croatia in the group. Following on from Friday’s night meeting in Scotland, Wales then host the unbeaten Croatian side while Scotland go to Serbia.

Scotland v Wales Head To Head
A nice long history to look back over between these two sides. There have been 106 meetings played between the two before and Scotland lead commandingly with 61 wins to 22 by Wales. There have been seven previous FA Cup qualifying matches, with Scotland leading the way against with three wins to two. The most recent coming together was that 2-1 win for Wales in Cardiff in October of 2012. The last meeting between them in Scotland was in 1997, an International Friendly held in Kilmarnock, which Wales won 1-0. That was the same result in their last World Cup qualifier held in Scotland, a 1-0 win for Wales in Glasgow during the the 1986 World Cup qualifiers.
