The Scots face a pressure game in World Cup 2018 qualification on Sunday. They play host to Slovenia who are sitting in second place in Group F behind leaders England. The problem for Scotland is that they are four points behind Slovenia and if they lose this one then their hopes of reaching Russia 2018 would be shattered. So this is something of a must-win game for them but that is not going to be an easy match up for them against Slovenia who have already collected a draw against England and a win over Slovakia in the group. Can the Scots deliver and get themselves back into the qualification mix?

What can Scotland do about their tough situation in World Cup 2018 qualifying? They are in dire straits at the moment as they go into this clash four points back of second-placed Slovenia in the standings. So the Scots really need to land a win from somewhere in this game on Sunday to give themselves some kind of chance. That is not an easy thing at the moment for them it would seem as the Scots aren’t running great form. Their only other home game in the World Cup 2018 qualifying group saw them only manage a draw against Lithuania and you can’t be dropping points at home like that. In the Bet365 correct score market for this one, a 1-1 draw and a 1-0 Scotland result are joint 5/1 favourite options.

Under 1.5 goals in the game is a 6/4 option at Bet365 and a tempting proposition. Scotland have failed to win any of their last three competitive matches on home soil and in midweek they didn’t exactly boost confidence or optimism as they had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 friendly draw with minnows Canada. Scotland are without a clean sheet in six games now and in their last half-a-dozen games they have conceded against Malta, Canada and Lithuania. So not good enough at the back at all. Steven Fletcher, Chris Martin and Jordan Rhodes are 21/10 joint anytime goalscorer favourites. Robert Snodgrass is top scorer with three goals for them and is a 3/1 option.

This will be just the third game between these two nations, as they were together in World Cup 2006 qualifying when there was a 0-0 draw in Glasgow before Scotland won 3-0 out in Slovenia. They will face some stubborn opposition in Slovenia, will Scotland. The Slovenians have taken three clean sheets in four qualifying games, but on the flip side, they aren’t a big threat going forward, with them only averaging one goal per game in the group. They have collected four points out on the road so far and they earned a 0-0 home draw with group leaders England, so again, they are a resilient old bunch.

Scotland vs Slovenia Betting Tips

At the end of the day, Slovenia would be happy with a draw you would imagine, while they must be able to see the big chance of them strengthening their position in second place if they push on and win this. Given the number of goals that Scotland have given up lately to lowly opposition, there are going to be opportunities for Slovenia in this one. It may just be worth a flutter on the away side getting a win on the board or covering them at 5/4 in a Draw No Bet at Bet365.
