World Cup Qualification Previews & Predictions

Ireland’s road to World Cup 2018 starts on Monday with a tricky looking trip to Belgrade. Qualification away games are never the easiest thing to get through and banking a win on out on the road in this one right at the start of the campaign would be huge for the men in green because they are likely to be embroiled in a really scrappy, tricky group, where along with the Czech Republic they have to go on and face Austria and Wales as well for a place at the 2018 World cup. If they can win in Belgrade then this would set them up very well for a decent run.

Ireland have lost three of their last six games so they aren’t on top of their format  the moment. But you can usually expect them to put up a decent dogged scrap when it comes to stuff like this. Where you perhaps worry about Ireland the most is them producing enough going forward and they no longer have Robbie Keane to bail them out of situations as he has hung up his international boots leaving the pressure mostly on Shane Long and Jonathan Walters to really come through for them. They are both around the 11/4 mark in the anytime goalscorer market for this one.

Ireland seem to be a little stuck at the moment in not getting the flood of young talent coming through the ranks, particularly from an attacking point of view. So the next two years are going to be tough for them you can imagine. This game to go under 2.5 goals is a price of 8/15 with online betting site Bet365 and it’s very hard seeing these two sides roll up and produce a goal fest on the day. Ireland have posted a D2 L1 record only from their three previous encounters with Serbia so that suggests a win may just be beyond them in this one. The last time they met was just back in 2014 in a friendly, which Ireland lost 2-1 at home.

However, given Serbia’s form, the Irish can’t totally be dismissed from this and the men in green could turn out to be decent value. In Euro 2016 qualification, Serbia managed just the four points from their ten games and were pretty poor. While they have quality players in their ranks but hey don’t look totally composed and all together as a unit. They had a fairly easy group in Euro 2016 qualification as well and just didn’t put things together and they were docked three points as well because of that drone issue when playing Albania.

The last and only time that these two met in Serbia there was a 0- 0 draw played out and that is a quote of 6/1 in the Correct Score market for this meeting there. What could get Ireland something close to this one is that Serbia won only one of their four home matches in Euro 2016 qualification and the Draw No Bet coverage on Ireland at 7/4 may be worth a flutter.

Serbia vs Ireland Betting Tips

We think that Ireland are being underestimated in this one and can go out and take something away from this. Serbia weren’t good in Euro 2106 qualification and it’s a little surprising to see the Irish pushed out to such a big price here. Instead of just backing Ireland outright go with a Draw No Bet at 7/4 on them. They can grind and at worst get out with a draw, but they could go better.
