World Cup Qualifiers - South America

Colombia V Ecuador – Saturday 5th September 21:30 GMT

Peru V Uruguay - Saturday 5th September 21:30 GMT

Paraguay V Bolivia - Saturday 5th September 23:30 GMT

Argentina V Brazil – Sunday 6th September 01:30 GMT

Chile V Venezuela - Sunday 6th September 01:30 GMT

Colombia V Ecuador

Both Colombia and Ecuador are still in contention for a berth into the World Cup finals but Colombia certainly have their work cut out if they are to do so. They trail the four automatic qualifying positions by five points whereas Ecuador only find themselves two points adrift. A win for Ecuador could see them leapfrog Argentina into fourth position if results go Ecuador's way.

Games in Colombia have rarely been entertaining affairs, with just one of Colombia's seven home qualifiers featuring 3 or more goals. A statistic which just emphasises their poor form in front of goal and their rather limited forward options. Ecuador posses several players with the potential to be a real nuisance for any opponent but they do struggle to shine on the road, winning just once on their travels in qualifying.

Colombia – 10/11 Bet365

Ecuador – 16/5 SportingBet

Draw – 12/5 StanJames

Matt's Tip: Under 2.5 Goals – 8/11 StanJames

Colombia have been notorious low scorers on home soil whereas they've also been pretty tight at the back. Just one of their seven qualifiers have had 3 or more goals so we expect this to be another dull affair despite the fact that both nations have to win.

Peru V Uruguay

Peru currently find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table with no chance whatsoever of making the finals. Even a victory over favourites Uruguay would not see them move from the bottom of the group and that does look very unlikely after looking at their qualifying record thus far. They've one win in seven at home with that victory coming against an average Venezuela team.

Uruguay will look in the direction of Diego Forlan for inspiration ahead of an away fixture they really ought and have to win. Anything but victory would all but scupper their plans to qualify. Forlan has bagged six goals in qualifying but Uruguay will also need a big performance from the in-form Ajax striker, Luis Suarez. He's found the net on three occasions in qualifying and his input is crucial.

Peru – 3/1 StanJames

Uruguay – EVENS SkyBet

Draw – 12/5 StanJames

Matt's Tip: Uruguay to WIN – EVENS SkyBet

Uruguay must win and they are well equipped to do just that. The likes of Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez & Diego Lugano should be too much for a dreadful Peru.

Paraguay V Bolivia

An outstanding qualifying campaign has seen Paraguay's chances of making South Africa rise significantly. They are currently sat in third position but they do have a two point cushion on fourth placed Argentina and have enforced a four point gap on fifth placed Ecuador. One more victory could be enough for them to secure a place in the 2010 World Cup and they won't get a better opportunity to do just that then against a poor Bolivia side.

Bolivia won't make an appearance in the World Cup after a dire campaign which has seen them pick up just 12 points in 14 qualifiers. There will be a distinct lack of motivation from the Bolivian players whereas Praguay will be extra motivated to get the win they need to probably seal a spot in the World Cup finals.

Paraguay – 3/10 Ladbrokes

Bolivia – 13/1 Expekt

Draw – 5/1 Expekt

Matt's Tip: Paraguay -1 Handicap – 8/11 Bet365

Anything but a home win here would be a massive shock in the South American continent. Paraguay have been very impressive in qualifying and they should cruise to victory and, in the process, massively increase their chances of securing a spot in South Africa.

Chile V Venezuela

Chile have surpassed all expectations by putting themselves firmly in the driving seat in regards to qualifying. Chile are currently second the group but are six points clear of Ecuador in fifth. A win over Venezuela would all but seal their spot in South Africa and they should duly deliver.

Venezuela still have an outside chance of qualifying but would need everything to go their way in the remaining four qualifiers. They must win every game and hope others slip up. This looks very unlikely though and their cause won't be helped with an extremely tough away trip to Chile.

Chile – 4/9 Bet365

Venezuela – 17/2 VictorChandler

Draw – 7/2 StanJames

Matt's Tip: Chile to WIN – 4/9 Bet365

Chile have been sublime in qualification and they should seal their berth into the World Cup finals with a victory at home against a Venezuela side lacking in quality. Chile beat the same opponents 3-2 in the reverse fixture but this should be a lot more straightforward.

Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile all to win as all four nations aim to boost their chances of making the finals. The Four-Timer pays just over 5/1 with Bet365.
