Honduras followers will be rewarded for their loyalty with just their second appearance in a World Cup after this current crop of Honduras stars earned a surprise inclusion into this summers show-piece after some solid displays in qualification, actually booking their place in South Africa in the very last set of fixtures. Costa Rica were the nation that last out but the Hondurans won’t care too much about that as a rare sighting in the Worlds biggest spectacle awaits them.

Their group, however, does look tough, with the European Champions arguably going to be their highlight game of the tournament. However, their main rivals for a possible second place finish, although it’s a big ask in just their second World Cup, will be Chile, a South American team who impressed during qualification and Switzerland, a nation where Honduras’ best chance of gaining some points does appear to lay in that game with the Swiss. Their quality isn’t great, neither is their strength in depth, but they will no doubt have bags of enthusiasm and their hunger to impress and make their fans back home proud could make them a dangerous proposition.
