This should be one of the top matches from the World Cup qualifiers in midweek. Qualification in the CONMEBOL zone has been going on for almost two years now and we are in the final stretch of it. Uruguay are in third place in the table but just the one point ahead of Argentina in what is a competitive battle for the remaining three automatic qualification spots, with Brazil having already booked their place at Russia 2018. This should be a pretty tense battle between them in Montevideo.

Uruguay vs Argentina Betting Tips

This should be a tense game with big qualification points at stake here. Uruguay would open up a four point advantage over Argentina with a win in this one and that would consolidate their qualification chances. There’s a tight battle for the three remaining automatic spots at Russia 2018 with Brazil having won the group already. Uruguay will look to reboot in this one as they fell out of form in losing each of their last three World Cup Qualifiers on the bounce. They lost back to back games against Chile, Brazil and Peru, but two of those were out on the road. Overall they have posted a W7 D2 L5 record in qualification and their strengths have been on home soil. Uruguay have won six of their last seven qualifiers at home and there has been a clean sheet in five of those. Six of Uruguay’s last seven home qualifiers have seen at least three goals and over 2.5 goals at bet365 is a price for 19/20. Luis Suarez is out injured, but they have Edinson Cavani as a 7/5 anytime goalscorer option for the game.

Uruguay have struggled for wins against Argentina, having beaten them just once in their last seven meetings. Perhaps importantly though, the only win that they did record in that sequence happened to be in their last home World Cup qualification match against them, back in 2013. Now Argentina haven’t been without their struggles in qualification. They are down in fifth place and are fighting to recover. The Albiceleste have managed only 15 goals in their 14 qualification matches and only Paraguay and Bolivia have scored fewer goals than they have. They have shipped an average of one goal per game as well in the qualifiers. They aren’t a particularly expansive or adventurous side, which, considering the talent they have, is surprising. Lionel Messi is even money bet365 first goalscorer favourite, with Sergio Aguero at 7/5. Three of Argentina’s last four wins over Uruguay have been by a 1-0 scoreline. In the bet365 correct score market, an Argentina 1-0 win is a 7/1 price with only the 1-1 draw shorter at 5/1. Argentina only have a W2 D3 L2 record in their last seven away qualifiers, losing their two back to back against Brazil and Bolivia to nil.
