Australia v Peru- World Cup 2018

Australia vs Peru World Cup Prediction 26th June 2018 – 3.00 p.m

Despite not being given too much chance of getting to the round of 16 ahead of the World Cup, the Socceroos are looking at a scenario where they could make it through. In order for that to happen Australia have to bag three points in this game, but they would also need some help from France because they would need Les Bleus to beat Denmark in their final group stage fixture. The interesting thing for this game is that Australia needs to win, but Peru who don’t have any point yet actually look more likely to get it.

Australia vs Peru Odds*

Who will win Australia vs Peru?

Who will win this Australia v Peru clash? It is a bit strange to see Peru sitting without any points because their performance levels have been so much higher than Australia. Peru have taken such a bold approach to this tournament and they were the better side against both their opponents in the group prior to this, but they just couldn’t get anything. Can they get a change of fortunes before going home, and take Australia with them?

Socceroos to miss out on win

It is to their credit that Australia are still in with a chance of making it through to the round of 16 heading into the final round of group stage matches. The Socceroos were hard done by in their opening game as they conceded a penalty and an own goal against France in a 2-1 defeat. It was then a 1-1 draw that they picked up against Denmark and both of their goals so far of the 2018 World Cup have come from converted Mile Jedinak penalty kicks. There are not likely to be too much of a threat from open play as Australia are not too much of an expansive side, so for our Australia v Peru predictions we are looking at 17/20 odds with William Hill on under 2.5 goals* (Betting Odds were taken from June 24th, 2018 at 11:55 p.m.).

Australia have picked up four defeats in their last five World Cup games, drawing the other one so they are not exactly carrying a strong history with them into getting this victory that they need. In order to get to the knockout phase of the 2018 World Cup they not only have to win this while having Denmark lose, but Australia also have to better Denmark in the goal difference department as well. That is where a lack of goals is likely to trip up Australia. Australia have only produced two wins from fifteen previous World Cup games.

Positive Peru to head home happy

There has been some great performances that Peru have put out so far at the 2018 World Cup and it is a bit unlucky that they are stuck without a point so far because they have deserved more. They have been one of the most positive attacking sides of all the nations taking part in this group stage but still, they have no goals after suffering back-to-back 1-0 defeats against Denmark and France. They were the better side against France and they managed to out shoot Denmark so they have thrown down the serious challenge to higher quality opposition.

This was always going to be their easiest match of the group stage campaign and there is a good chance that positive Peru will heading home happy in collecting three points. Peru were very poor defensively during their World Cup 2018 qualification campaign, but that all changed after securing qualification as they really stepped it up in the defensive department and they have conceded only two goals in their last five games. Because of that we are looking at a Peru to win to nil option at 3/1 odds with William Hill* (Betting Odds were taken from June 24th, 2018 at 11:55 p.m.). So Peru have nothing play for except pride and trying to avoid the wooden spoon, and there appears to be enough good vibes about them to warrant backing the South Americans to get three points.

Australia vs Peru Prediction

We are going to roll with the South Americans collecting the win in this one they have had so many chances in this tournament in front of goal that something has to go right for them against Australia defence which is nothing more than average at best. Illinois it may be a little too late Peru is positive approach campaign off.
