Belgium v Japan- World Cup 2018

Belgium vs Japan World Cup Prediction 2nd July 2018 – 7.00 p.m

Japan are probably the last team that Belgium would have expected to have been meeting in the tournament, but at least it gives the Europeans what appears to be a fairly easy challenge for this round of sixteen tie. The Red Devils are red-hot favourites to move ahead against the Blue Samurai. Japan were favourites to finish bottom of Group H but with some fortune and determination on their side they got through but our prediction for the Belgium vs Japan game sees the Asians having a rough evening.

Belgium vs Japan Odds*

Belgium 2/5
Draw 4/1
Japan 8/1

Who will win Belgium vs Japan?

There doesn’t appear to be the need for a great deal of thought of who will win Belgium vs Japan, it is more going to be about how Belgium win this. Will they go full force and just try and run up the goals, or will they sit back if they get themselves a good couple of goals lead then cruise? Either way, whatever the outcome, we see the Red Devils breaking the resistance of Japan pretty easily.

Red Devils looking for a comfortable win

Belgium have quietly and efficiently gone about their business. They won all three of their group stage games and that included their second string beating England’s second string in the final round of group matches, which says a lot about the versatility and strength they have on the bench. Belgium should be taking a step closer to potentially their first ever World Cup title in this fixture. A game against Japan is not likely to trip up the Red Devils at this point. Their top players will be back fresh after a rest and were are looking at Belgium to win by two goals which is at 3/1 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from June 29th, 2018 at 9:43 p.m.) for a Belgium v Japan prediction. Why not more? Because there is no need for them to do so. What is expected in the quarter finals is that Belgium will have to take on Brazil and so it is just about getting the win on the board in this one without burning themselves out. So that is really something worth thinking about when looking at betting for this game.

Yes Belgium, who have scored at least three goals in five of their last seven games have the potential to run up a big score. They simply don’t need to. They need to get ahead and conserve. Romelu Lukaku will fancy his chances of getting among the goals again as he is well in the Golden Boot and Lukaku is the 13/5 first goalscorer favourite for the match* (Betting Odds were taken from June 29th, 2018 at 9:43 p.m.). The Belgians are on a stunning 22 match undefeated streak of form at the moment and it’s hard to see it being snapped against Japan. The thing about Belgium is that not only do they have a fantastic attack with the likes of Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne feeding Lukaku, but they are solid at the back with six clean sheets in eight. Backing Belgium to win to nil is an obvious prediction for this game. But we are pushing the boat out and going for that Belgium 2-0 correct score option at 11/2 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 29th, 2018 at 9:43 p.m.).

Blue Samurai lacking quality

Japan caused some surprise in getting to this round of sixteen. They were in a group alongside Poland, Sengela and Colombia and were the favourites to finish bottom of that pool. But they took their chances when they came there way in beating out Colombia 2-1 in their opener and they showed tremendous battling qualities in fighting back to get a 2-2 draw against Senegal in their second match. They lost 1-0 against Poland in their final match, a strange game where Japan just stopped playing in the final ten minutes, not wanting to concede a goal. Japan have scored at least two goals in three of their last four games but they aren’t a solid side at the back. They have conceded in each of their last ten games now and should be there for the taking against a powerful Belgium side. When they have been at it, they have shown good spirit and self-belief but at the end of the day the quality to compete against Belgium isn’t likely to be there.

Belgium vs Japan Prediction

It is going to be all Belgium in this one and they are carrying such a huge attacking threat that it’s hard to get close to imagining an upset happening. Belgium have the players and the finishing touch in front of goal to make light work for this task and we are settling on a Belgium 2-0 correct score option for our prediction.
