World Cup 2018 Betting Predictions

It should be pretty straight forward going in World Cup 2014 Group C Predictions. Colombia are the front runners here, and the South Americans should be more than comfortable in their own continent. They are such an improved side, very strong in defence and with great splashes of quality throughout their forward ranks too, that they have been tipped as one of the dark horses in World Cup 2014 Betting. That is a huge compliment to them and they have come on leaps and bounds over the past couple of years. They may be peaking at the right time.

Colombia are strong 5/6 favourites to win Group C, which is one of the weaker groups in the summer tournament. They are joined there by the Ivory Coast, Japan and Greece. Colombia open against Greece on June 14th and are big favourites to land maximum points there. While they have the star attraction of Radamel Falcao, who faces a race to be fit for Brazil 2014, they aren’t a one man team. Far from it. They have ample back up in the forward department with Jackson Martinez and Carlos Bacca. So they won’t be devoid of resources if Falcao can’t make it.

But the biggest asset to Colombia is their defensive unit. They are so solid back there that it is going to keep them in games. They had the best defensive record of all nine teams coming through the CONMEBOL qualification and they earned a credible 0-0 draw away at Argentina during qualification. In the end they finished just two points behind group winners Lionel Messi and co. Colombia won as many games as Argentina and conceded two fewer goals during qualifcation. They couldn’t compete with the firepower of Argentina, but still, it was an impressive qualification.

Behind them, the Ivory Coast are Even money to qualify through to the knockout stage. They are still aiming to get out of the group stage for the first time, failing to do so on their two previous attempts, but they could finally achieve it here. There is a big chance for them and talisman Didier Drogba will get his final shot at World Cup glory. They arguably aren’t as strong as they have been at previous World Cups, but you would still fancy them ahead of Japan and Greece.

While industrious, Japan are so green when it comes to playing against high quality opposition, that they are not likely going to impress upon the top two places too much. Greece, they are still the same old Greece, keeping everything tight and don’t score and don’t concede. Would probably take them for third above Japan though (Japan 11/5 to finish bottom).

World Cup 2014 Group C Predictions
Colombia should breeze their way through this one, the biggest challenges will be trying to break a stubborn Greek side down, and keeping their composure against the Ivory Coast when they meet in the group’s second round of matches on Thursday June 19th. That should be a group decider, and a Colombia/Ivory Coast Dual Forecast looks fantastic value.
