Capacity: 44,530

Situated: Rustenburg

Built: 1999

Stadium Information:

The Royal Bafokeng Stadium, named after it’s locals after it was built just before the Millennium, is one of the smaller World Cup venues and will hold just under 45,000 footballing mad fans.

Before it will play its part in the first ever World Cup on the African continent, the stadium was previously in use for some South African Premier League games although Rustenburg doesn’t officially have a team as such.

The original capacity was 38,000 but has since been renovated to meet the needs of FIFA requirements, where the West Stand, which is the most noticeable new feature about the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, was enlarged to raise the capacity several thousand more.

Altitude: 1500m

Weather: In the winter, the temperature in Rustenburg will hit around 16 degrees.
