Brazil vs Switzerland World Cup 2018 Preview 17th June – 7:00 p.m.
(Full time: 1:1 – goals: Coutinho 20′ – Zuber 50′)

Here come the Brazilians. In their World Cup 2018 build-up, they have looked in fantastic form and they are the justifiable outright favourites to win the title in the summer. On paper, this does look to be a comfortable opener for the South Americans and all of our Brazil v Switzerland predictions lean towards them getting a victory. This is a tough game for Switzerland who will still have qualification hopes for the knockout phase in their minds, but will they be able to extend their current unbeaten streak and at least avoid defeat against the Selecao?

Brazil vs Switzerland Preview

There is quite a buzz surrounding Brazil and it’s justifiable as well because they are looking like a serious force to be reckoned with. They are at the outright favourites to win the World Cup 2018 and it would be a shock if they aren’t there or thereabouts as they go looking for their sixth World Cup title. The Selecao are undefeated in their last 10 games since the start of last September and in those 10 games, Brazil have collected seven victories. So the form is right up there and they have faced the likes of England, Croatia and Germany in recent matches and they have been testing themselves.

Neymar back and among the goals

Neymar has been among the goals in their World Cup warm-ups and that’s just a major boost for them in the summer tournament and warranting a look in our Brazil v Switzerland predictions is Neymar at 3/1 odds joint-favourite* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m.) in bet365 first goalscorer market alongside Gabriel Jesus. Brazil are just flowing freely in front of goal having scored at least two goals in all but two of their last seven games played. But this is now a well-balanced Brazil side who aren’t just about clinical attacking performances.

Brazil have been transformed into a very tough defensive side under new head coach Tite. They like to play tight which allows them to knock the ball around a lot easier and keep it off opposition. Brazil’s defensive record over their recent form is fantastic and just to prove a point that they are not a just an attacking side, the Selecao have earned a clean sheet in eight of their last 10 games, conceding just two goals in the entire sequence. So for your Brazil v Switzerland predictions it is worth having a look at Brazil to win to nil at 11/10 odds* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m.). And that option are will lead you on to other reasonable betting options on the game as well because you can go and look at the leading options up in the bet365 correct score market, basing your choices off Brazil keeping a clean sheet. A Brazil 2-0 option is 5/1 odds in the market* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m.).

Can the Swiss compete?

All of this makes it seem like Brazil are going to have a really easy time rolling over Switzerland and that the Europeans are going to be a nonentity. The may not be true because Switzerland are carrying good form themselves, and they won nine of their 10 World Cup qualification matches. Granted it was in an easy group and their only loss came against Portugal in the final of matches. That defeat against the European champions meant that Switzerland had to go to a qualification play-off round and there they triumphed 1-0 against Northern Ireland on aggregate. Heading to Russia 2018, Switzerland are unbeaten in six games with a W4 L2 record in that sequence. So they are not in bad shape and one of the draws in that sequence was a 1-1 tie against Spain in the recent international friendlies. So the Swiss don’t look in bad shape really but that doesn’t change the fact that the odds are stacked against them in this game.

To be fair in their last ten games Switzerland haven’t really faced any top quality opposition other than Portugal and Spain, and so it’s hard to gauge exactly where they are at and how they may come up with a solution to stop the Brazilians. Switzerland averaged over two goals per game during qualification and they have scored 11 in their last seven. However, six of those 11 goals came in one big win against Panama in a recent friendly match. Switzerland look pretty solid at the back actually and they have taken a clean sheet in all but one of their last six games as they head to the World Cup.

But still how much would you trust them in Brazil v Switzerland predictions to come away with a clean sheet against the South Americans? That’s a tough thing to back and given the weight of Brazil’s defensive qualities at the moment both teams not to score is at 4/6 odds at bet365* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m.). Switzerland may well find themselves on the back foot for long periods of this game and a defeat in this group opener will put some pressure on them as they move forward to then face Costa Rica and Serbia in a push for a qualification to the knockout phase.

Brazil v Switzerland Predictions

We really don’t see Switzerland sticking in there and keeping Brazil over 90 minutes and therefore a Brazil 2-0 correct score option is one of our leading Brazil v Switzerland predictions. While Brazil are scoring freely their defence looks fantastic and Switzerland may not be able to raise too much of a challenge.
