Poland v Senegal- World Cup 2018

Poland vs Senegal World Cup 2018 Preview 19th June – 4.00 p.m
(Full time: 1:2 – goals: Krychowiak 86′ – Cionek (OG) 37′, Niang 60′)

It looks as if anything can happen in Group H which also contains Columbia and Japan. It is likely to be a three-way battle between these two and Colombia further to qualification spots and so neither of these are going to want to drop points in this fixture. Of the two sides heading into our Poland v Senegal predictions it is the Europeans who are carrying the better form and they are also posing a bigger attacking threat than their African counterparts. Will that be enough to get Poland up and running in the competition with a good three points earned?

Poland vs Senegal Odds*

Poland vs Senegal Preview

Given the scoring power that Poland can boast, then they are a good price at 7/5 odds* (betting odds taken on June 15, 2018 at 9:04 PM) to go out and win this fixture. They qualified for the World Cup easily by winning their group and they relied heavily on the goals of Robert Lewandowski. He is always going to be a threat prowling around and for Poland v Senegal predictions it is worth considering him as the 11/4 odds first goalscorer favourite* (betting odds taken on June 15, 2018 at 9:04 PM). The Polish like to play a quick attacking game, and most of it is direct and they should pose Senegal some problems.

Polish attacking looks a threat

Poland have posted a W2 D1 record in their last three games, scoring nine goals across those matches and at least two in each which nods to consistency. Over 2.5 goals for a Poland v Senegal prediction is at 5/4 odds at bet365* (betting odds taken on June 15, 2018, at 9:04 PM). Seven of Poland’s last ten games have finished over the goal line so there is a trend running for it to happen. They certainly have the attack to push the game close to the three-goal mark. Back at Euro 2016 Poland looked really good but were unlucky quarterfinal losers in a penalty shootout against Portugal. With Colombia still to come in the group after, this would be an important three points if the Poles could get them.

A lot of the hype around Senegal has come because of the form last season of Liverpool player Sadio Mane. He is their star man and he is one of quite a few familiar faces in a Senegal squad who play around Europe’s top leagues. Actually, Mane is worth looking past as an option in the anytime goalscorer market for Senegal. He is on an international goal drought which extends back to early September last year. Moussa Konate or Diafra Sakho may be better options to consider in terms of looking for a bit of extended value beyond the obvious selection. Senegal will carry a little bit of form with them into this fixture as they have only lost one of their last nine games and that was recent friendly against European nation Croatia.

Senegal out of winning touch

Senegal have drawn seven of their last 13 and three of their last five games. So it hasn’t been particularly positive form all around and they have produced only the four goals in their last five games failing to score in two of their last four. One very interesting result in that sequence was at 0-0 draw against Luxembourg at the end of May and before that a 1-1 against Uzbekistan. What does that say about their chances of trying to break Poland down? Senegal had little trouble in qualification for the 2018 World Cup, winning four and drawing two of six matches in the final group stage round. They actually don’t look a tremendous threat and they could struggle at the back against a positive Poland side. It may be worth a flutter on both teams to score at 10/11 odds at bet365* (betting odds taken on June 15, 2018 at 9:04 PM) but they cannot match Poland’s goalscoring.

Poland v Senegal Predictions

For our Poland v Senegal predictions we can’t see enough of an attacking threat from Senegal to pose a serious high threat to Poland. Granted the Polish defence isn’t all that good, but the Europeans have better scoring threats and that should be enough to get them the win. We are going for a straightforward win for Poland.
