Denmark World Cup 2018 Betting – Odds, Group & Prediction
Denmark produced a spectacular show of force in the second leg of their World Cup 2018 qualification tie against Ireland, to put themselves at Russia 2018. After a fairly strong qualification campaign around though they are going to be one of those tricky sides that can cause a problem or two in the tournament.
How Denmark qualified
The Danes finished second in their qualification group. Everything pretty much went to plan in UEFA GRoup E really. Poland, largely thanks to the goals of Robert Lewandowski won the group and Denmark finished in second place behind them, five points adrift. But the Danes were comfortably in second place and along the way, they took a thumping 4-0 home win over the group-topping Poles.
They only lost 3-2 in Poland as well while their other loss was a shock home defeat against Montenegro, which was just put down to one of those days that happen more than any real show of weakness from the Danes. Denmark returned a W6 D2 L2 record in their ten qualification games, conceding just the eight goals, the best record in the group. That put them through to the play offs.
They were ranked third of the eight best runners-up and the draw saw them paired up with Ireland. After a tense 0-0 draw played out in Denmark, where the Danes just couldn’t make the most of chances, the ball was deemed to be in Ireland’s court, who are always a tough side at home. It didn’t turn out that way though as Denmark romped to a 5-1 victory in that second leg to power their way through to the World Cup. Tottenham star Christian Eriksen netted eleven goals in the campaign. Only four players in the entire UEFA qualification produced more. He is 5/4 odds at bet365 to be Denmark’s top scorer at the World Cup.
World Cup 2018 Group Stage
Denmark will really fancy their chances of getting through to the round of sixteen at the World Cup. How the fixtures pan out for them in the group is nice as well. They get an opener against Peru on June 16th, a game which they should fully expect to win and indeed, the Danes are 11/10 favourites for that at bet365* (betting odds taken on April 3rd, 2018 at 00:35 a.m.).
So there’s a chance that they can get themselves off to a solid start and they can build on that as they then take on Australia. The Socceroos generally put up a good effort but are lacking the kind of quality that Denmark have and so realistically, Denmark could have qualification pretty much wrapped up before meeting France in their final match.
Of course, dealing with France is a much tougher thing for the Danes to get through, but if they have both won their two matches prior to that, it won’t matter too much what happens in this, in what would be a battle for top spot. France are the group favourites, with Denmark at 6/1 odds* (betting odds taken on April 3rd, 2018 at 00:35 a.m.) to top the pile. Either way, the Danes are 8/11 odds on* (betting odds taken on April 3rd, 2018 at 00:35 a.m.) to qualify from the group.

Denmark World Cup History
The Danish dynamite entered their first World Cup at Mexico ‘86. They got past the group stage on that occasion before being dumped out by Spain in a 5-1 loss in the round of sixteen. They had to wait until France 1998 for a return to the World Stage and they reached the quarter finals on that occasion. They were back four years later and made it to the round of sixteen again.
After skipping Germany 2006 Denmark made it to the 2010 World Cup where for the first time, they failed to get out of the group stage, slumping behind the Netherlands and Japan. They missed Brazil 2014 so are back for another crack this go around. Their World Cup record stands at P16 D8 D2 L6. They have won at least one game then in each of their previous World Cup appearances and really, three times out of four appearances getting past the group stage isn’t all that bad.
Denmark are a really solid side at the moment and they didn’t lose a single game in 2017. They were decent enough in front of goal through the qualification process as well and really had their moments in the sun. Their star, of course, is Tottenhams’ Christian Eriksen who is going to be pivotal to their chances at the tournament. They have some other familiar names like Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel, Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, Sevilla’s Simon Kjær and former Arsenal man Nicklas Bendtner. They look a pretty robust side, have touches of real quality there. There could be Croatia or Argentina waiting in the round of sixteen, back that as the stage at which the Danes go home. They are 13/8 odds at bet365 to make their bow in the Last 16/1* (betting odds taken on April 3rd, 2018 at 00:35 a.m.).Place your World Cup Bet at Bet365!
